Islamabad Customs exceeds target by 45pc, collects Rs 15b in FY2014-15

Collector Zeba says collectorate mark historic achievement

ISLAMABAD: Showing exceptional performance, the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad (MCCI) has surpassed tax collection target for the fiscal year 2014-15 by 45 percent as it collected Rs 15.069 billion against target of Rs 10.378 billion.

Collector of Islamabad Customs, Zeba Hai termed the revenue collection as historic achievement, besides urging the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to increase the amount for reward.

Collector Zeba is of view that colletorate will try hard to follow suit in revenue collection during running fiscal year 2015-16, while directions in this regard has been issued to the staff.

As per available data to Customs Today, MCCI has generated Rs 5.217 billion in terms of customs duty during the said period against the set target of Rs 4.426 billion with an increase of Rs 791 million.

Similarly, in wake of sales tax on import, it was assigned Rs 3.219 billion target by FBR, while it collected Rs 6.607 billion with surplus of more than 100 percent.

It also exceeded the withholding tax target of Rs 2.333 billion as it recovered Rs 2.763 billion in fiscal year 2014-15, while under the head of federal excise duty Islamabad Customs collected Rs 360.12 million against Rs 398.75 million with shortfall of Rs 38.63 million.
