Islamabad Customs seizes drugs worth Rs5.25m in parcel

ISLAMABAD: The Customs authorities have seized 465-gram marijuana and 25-gram cocaine worth Rs5.25 million.

The Customs officials at Import (examination) found the drug during examination of parcel booked by Asim Khan of Nottingham, UK for Raja Asaam, a resident of Jhelum.

The parcel was containing sealed supplement jar and T-shirts. Detailed examination of the parcel led to the recovery of 465 grams of marijuana and 25 grams of cocaine tactfully concealed inside the jar of supplement.

Collector Islamabad Arslan Subuctageen has advised the staff to keep strict vigilance on the movement of goods so that any attempt to smuggle contraband goods could be thwarted.

An FIR was lodged against the consignee Raja Asaam and he was arrested later.
