During the operation, Customs officials recovered approximately 1,200kg of charas, around 100kg of poppy seeds and one firearm.

The team also seized a non-customs-paid Toyota Prado, Model 2005, which was allegedly being used to transport the contraband.

The seized narcotics have been assessed at an estimated international market value of approximately Rs5.40 billion. Including the value of the vehicle and other seized items, the total value of the seizure has been estimated at around Rs5.41 billion.

Suspects Flee Under Cover of Darkness

According to Customs authorities, the accused persons fled the scene after sensing the presence of the enforcement team, taking advantage of the darkness.

The vehicle and other recovered items were subsequently taken into Customs custody.

An FIR has been registered against unknown accused persons under relevant provisions of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and the Customs Act, 1969.

Investigation Underway

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, has launched a further investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the transportation of the narcotics consignment.

Authorities are also working to determine the wider network allegedly involved in the movement of the contraband.
