Islamabad Customs seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 345.78m from July 2014 to May 2015

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad (Preventive Division) has successfully seized Rs 345.78 million foreign origin smuggled goods during July 2014 to May 2015.

Headquarters Deputy Collector Yawar Nawaz told Customs Today that the seized items, including 55 vehicles worth Rs 80.1 million and 42 non-duty paid vehicles worth of Rs 63.28 million, were also seized during the above-said period.

He added that during the anti-smuggling drives, his department also seized 48,657kg smuggled cloth worth Rs 21.18 million, smuggled tyres worth Rs 5.12 million, smuggled tea worth Rs 142 million, cigarettes worth Rs 1.5 million and smuggled electronics worth Rs 32.37 million.

Yawar Nawaz further said that the overall performance of Islamabad Customs is satisfactory, and “we will perform our duties in the future with more devotion and enthusiasm”.
