ISLAMABAD: Model Custom Collectorate,Islamabad dry port collected Rs723.491 million as customs duty during first quarter of financial year (FY) 2016-17 and 745 containers passed through this dry port.
According to details told by Assistant Collector Amanat Ali Khan the first quarter of FY 2016-17 was satisfactory, the staff of dry port worked very hard and achieve a handsome amount in shape of customs duty.
He said that Collector and Chief collector specially order dry port staff to behave properly with the business community, patience and cooperative aptitude must be adopt, he further explain that Collector and Chief Collector North are properly following the performance of revenue collection of dry port.
He said that during month of July2016-17 the dry port collected customs duty worth Rs158.624 million and containers cleared during said month from dry port were 202 numbers.
Amanat told that in August FY16-17 the dry port collected under the head of customs duty Rs275.659 million and containers cleared during said period were 302 in numbers.
He said that during month of September FY 2016-17 the dry port collected Rs289.208 million and containers passed during first quarter 2016-17 were 241 in quantity who import from different word places.
He said that consignment of export good are very slow, it should be enhance so our local products introduce in the world, he further said that Government always promoted the exporters who sent their local products to foreign countries.
Regarding upcoming Dharna expected on 2 October,2016 ,he said that dry port will remain open but business activity may stop because businessman are not bring their consignments here at Margalla Dry Port, the entrepreneur trying to stop there consignments at Karachi, they feared that there consignments can be damaged.
