Islamabad: Excise Dept seizes Land Cruiser with fake number plate

ISLAMABAD: Anti Smuggling Squad of Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has taken Land Cruiser with fake number plate and no documentary record into its custody for further investigation, which was seized by Excise and Taxation Motor Registration Authority Rawalpindi during checking.

Motor Registration Authority Rawalpindi informed Deputy Collector Customs Division MCC about the car that they had seized the three door Land Cruiser car registration # RPT-586 and Cheeses  # BJ70-OOO1442 during checking, while EDO office has no record of that car.

Moreover Customs Anti Smuggling staff has sent the car to forensic lab Islamabad Police Headquarter.  As per forensic report the chesses number of car was correct. Customs authorities believed that either car was smuggled or it was illegally bought. Customs has registered a FIR against unknown persons under Section 2 and 16 of Customs Act 1969.

Collectorate Adjudication MCCI Seema Bukhai issued show cause notice to the accused and ordered to come on April 14 for further proceedings.
