Islamabad High Court to hear several tax references on Monday

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear several tax references on Monday involving field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

A divisional bench of the IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani would hear the majority of cases.

Out of these cases, two are filed by LTU Commissioner of income Tax against M/s Industrial Technologies (Private) Limited, Muhammad Habib and M/s Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Limited, Islamabad.

The commissioner had challenge department’s adjudication decision before the court for realizing show cause notices, carrying millions of rupees claims in head of different taxes.

Department’s internal adjudication had declared the notices of no legal worth and had barred the commissioner from holding any proceedings under the challenged show cause notices.

Meanwhile, another IHC bench would hear a different case filed by Islamabad Electric Supply Company. Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah would hear this case challenging RTO’s Assistant Commissioner IR order on recovering outstanding tax amount from IESCO.
