Islamabad hosts high-level logistics summit to drive trade and maritime growth

ISLAMABAD: The 2nd Pakistan Logistics & Shipping Summit (PLSS) 2026 was successfully held today at the Islamabad Marriott Hotel, bringing together an exceptional gathering of diplomats, senior government officials, policymakers, regulators, business leaders, development partners, academia, and representatives from Pakistan’s logistics, shipping, ports, customs, trade and financial sectors.

The summit was organized by Smart Entrepreneur Society (SES), powered by Galaxefi, and managed by ACMEEM, under the theme:

The event was graced by Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhary, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Government of Pakistan, as the Chief Guest.

The summit was further honored by the participation of Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, SI(M), SBt (Retd), Chairman, Karachi Port Trust (KPT); Rear Admiral Syed Moazzam Ilyas, HI(M) (Retd), Chairman, Port Qasim Authority (PQA); Mr, Faisal Zahid Malik Chairman Editor_in chief Pakistan Observer and Mr. Noor Ul Haq Baloch, Chairman, Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), whose presence underscored the strategic importance of Pakistan’s three major ports in advancing national trade, maritime development, and regional connectivity.

Delivering the welcome address, Engr. Mehtab Hussain Baloch, Founder of Smart Entrepreneur Society (SES), warmly welcomed the distinguished guests from the diplomatic community, federal and provincial governments, the armed forces, academia, development organizations, trade associations, and the private sector. He emphasized that Pakistan’s logistics and shipping sector can become a powerful engine for national economic growth through stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Engr. Mehtab Hussain Baloch expressed his gratitude to all strategic partners, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, delegates, and supporting organizations for their valuable contribution in making the summit a successful national platform for dialogue and collaboration.

The summit was organized in collaboration with leading national institutions, with the Pakistan International Freight Forwarders Association (PIFFA) and the Pakistan Ship’s Agents Association (PSAA) serving as Strategic Partners, the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) as the Knowledge Partner, and the International Chamber of Commerce Pakistan (ICC Pakistan) as the Supporting Partner. Pakistan Observer as the media partner.

The summit featured participation from senior representatives of the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan Customs, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Ministry of Communications, Asian Development Bank (ADB), leading shipping lines, logistics companies, freight forwarders, financial institutions, academia, and other key stakeholders from Pakistan’s trade and maritime ecosystem.

The conference included four high-level panel discussions covering Pakistan’s future position in global supply chains, ports and regional connectivity, digital transformation and trade facilitation, supply chain resilience, investment, trade finance, and cross-border commerce. The discussions generated practical recommendations aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s competitiveness, improving logistics efficiency, and attracting greater investment into the sector.
