Islamabad I&I generates Rs19.45m through auction of smuggled goods & vehicles

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) auction cell fetched Rs19.45 million through auction of impounded vehicles and goods. The auction was held at State Warehouse premises.

Sources told Customs Today that the auction staff of I&I Rawalpindi and Islamabad conducted two auctions during current financial year 2018-19 and raised revenue of Rs100 million in which total 11 vehicles were sold on very reasonable price and five lots of smuggled goods were also sold in the said auctions.

The sources told that 11 vehicles were sold worth Rs12.455 million while 11 lots of different goods were sold worth Rs17.68 million. The I&I organized this auction in a very professional and transparent manner under the supervision of Deputy Director Sadia Usman and Deputy Director Abdul Mueed Kanjoo.

Sources informed that through current auction the amount of Rs1.2 million was earned through AIT (Additional Income Tax) on vehicles and Rs0.523 million were collected via AIT applied on auction of lots of different smuggled goods.

Sources told that under direction of DG I&I Muhammand Zahid Kokhar the I&I Customs staff informed the auctioneers via advertisement and banners. A huge number of participants attended the auction. Most of auctioneers belonged to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.
