ROME: An Italian manufacturer of high-end adhesives and sealants plans to create 150 new jobs and invest $66 million in Spartanburg County.

Spartanburg County Council on Monday approved the third and final reading of an economic incentives agreement, which allows the company to move forward with its project on Highway 290. The new company will locate near the new Toray plant being developed in Moore.

Apollo 17 LLC, the company operating at the site, is a subsidiary of the Italian adhesive and sealant company. Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt said the name of the company will not be released until it closes on the property.

That became the company’s name through its United States operation,” Britt said. “It’s an Italian company. It’s another great statement about Spartanburg County being the place to do business. This is their first U.S. operation and they chose to put it in the Highway 290 area.”

The company is not Apollo Adhesives Solutions based in the United Kingdom, Britt said.

County Councilman Roger Nutt said the new jobs and investment will help boost the local economy.

“Any time we get business like that it’s fantastic,” Nutt said. “It’s just one more cog in the wheel on 290. It’s going to be very exciting for our area. We have got a lot of growth out there.”
