Jamaica: Cornell police arrest man with 250 bags of heroin

ABUJA:  Cornell University Police arrested a man from Jamaica they accuse of possessing 250 bags of heroin.

A Cornell police officer stopped a vehicle in a parking lot on the 400 block of Stewart Avenue. Police say they noticed a hypodermic needle on the floor of the car and also discovered one of the occupants of the car was wanted in Florida for “non-extraditable drug warrants.”

Police say one of the occupants was also in possession of 250 bags of heroin, valued at about $4,000.

Cornell police charged Roshane D. Henry, 24, of Jamaica, with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

Police say Henry and the others with him in the vehicle are not affiliated with the university.

According to Cornell police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Henry entered the United States in 2004 and has remained since illegally.

Henry was arraigned in the City of Ithaca Court and sent to Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail or $6,000 bond.
