KINGSTON: Jamaica Customs has exceeded the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP) revenue target of J$12.950B for the month of September 2015, by collecting J$15.093B, in gross revenue.
Since the start of the fiscal year (2015/2016), the Agency’s gross collections stand at J$88.604B.
The Jamaica Customs Agency continues to improve its business processes through automation with the implementation of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA World) which will result in greater efficiency and client service improvements.
Jamaica Customs has exceeded the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP) revenue target of J$12.950B for the month of September 2015, by collecting J$15.093B, in gross revenue. The target was surpassed by J$2.144B or 16.55%. Net revenue collected for the month of September was J$15B, against the monthly target of J$12.950B, which was above by J$2.050B or 15.83%. In comparison, to the same period last year the Agency collected J$14.133B, which represents an increase of J$866M or 6.13%.
Net revenue collections year to date (April – September 2015) amounted to J$87.939B, against the target of J$78.299B, which was above target by J$9.640B or 12.31%. In comparison to the same period (2014/2015) last year, the Agency collected J$74.550B which represents an increase of $13.389B or 15.23%.
Since the start of the fiscal year (2015/2016), the Agency’s gross collections stand at J$88.604B. When compared to the same period (2014/2015), of the previous fiscal year the collections amounted to J$75.084B. Thus, relative to the previous year, the gross revenue grew by 18% or J$13.5B against the year to date target of J$78.299B, which was above MOFP target by J$10.305B or 13.16%. To date, 55% of the annual target has been attained
The Jamaica Customs Agency continues to improve its business processes through automation with the implementation of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA World) which will result in greater efficiency and client service improvements. To increase collections, additional revenue enhancement measures will be implemented for the remainder of the fiscal year, as we facilitate trade and protect our borders for the ultimate goal of collecting much needed revenue; thus assisting in stabilizing the Jamaican economy.
