KINGSTON: The police are reporting the seizure of approximately two pounds of cocaine in Drewsland, Kingston.
Reports are that the officers were on a special operation in the area when a Honda CRV motorcar was searched and a plastic bag containing one parcel of cocaine valuing approximately J$498,000 was reportedly found. A man was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.
He is 73-year-old Lionel Turner of Twickenham Drive, Spanish Town, St Catherine. Turner was charged with illegal possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and conveyance.
He was taken to the Corporate Area Criminal Court today where he pleaded guilty on all counts. He was subsequently fined $95,000 or six months imprisonment for possession; $95,000 or six months imprisonment for dealing and $100,000 or six months imprisonment for conveyance.
