JAMAICA: Jamaica Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division (TCND) has seized 13 lbs (pounds) of cocaine valued at JMD 8.4 million at the island’s two major airports over the last four days, TCND officials said here the other day.
In the first incident, members of the TCND seized approximately two and a half pounds of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport (SIA). Twenty-nine-year-old Ferron Ford of Birmingham, England was arrested and charged for attempting to export the illicit drug.
Meanwhile, TCND seized another two and a half pounds of cocaine, also at the SIA. One woman was arrested and charged for attempting to export cocaine.
She is 28-year-old Katerina Ana Schofield of Zurich, Switzerland.
Ford and Schofield are scheduled to appear before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday, January 9.
The other two incidents occurred at the Norman Manley International Airport, where an operation was carried out by members of the TCND, which resulted in the arrests of two male British citizens. Their names are being withheld pending further investigations.
