SRINAGAR: Two drug smugglers were arrested today and about 70 kg of ‘fukki’, a narcotic substance, recovered from their possession in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.
On specific information, a police party laid a check-point at Mughal Pora area of Keegam in Shopian, a police spokesman said.
He said that during the checking of vehicles, a load carrier driven by Ashaq Dar, a resident of Haji Check Keegam, and a motorcycle driven by Gulzar Ahmad Wagay, a resident of Batmuran, were intercepted.
The vehicles were searched and nine bags of ‘fukki’ weighing about 70 kg were allegedly recovered from them, the spokesman said.
Police arrested the duo and registered a case under NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act against them, he said, adding investigation is on.
