Jan 30 deadline, cost up by Rs6.17b to Rs44.21b: Contractors directed to complete metro project in time

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed and Metro Bus Service Project Implementation Committee Chairman Hanif Abbasi have directed the contractors to speed up the pace of work on various phases/installations of stations of the project to complete it in time.

The commissioner and MBPIC chairman issued these directions while jointly chairing a meeting convened to review the progress of all metro bus stations. Chief Engineer RDA Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, Director Engineering RDA Asghar Hussain Warraich, Project Manager Nespak Danish Raza and other relevant officers and contractors were also present there.

Zahid Saeed reiterated the importance of speedy work and directed the contractors to work day and night. Hanif Abbasi urged the contractors to put in extra labour for execution of ongoing works on fast track basis. The contractors assured that they would complete the ongoing work soon.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier the government had set Jan 25, 2015 deadline for completion of Metro Bus Project, which further extended to Jan 30. The government had also increased the cost of the project by Rs6.17 billion to Rs44.21 billion.
