ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project will miss another deadline of mid-February for its completion as around 30 per cent of the work on the project is yet to be undertaken. Shakeel Awan, former MNA and a member of the oversight committee said  that the work has been further expedited on the project as Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his anger over the delay.

“The project has been delayed due to sit-ins of the PTI and PAT,” he said, adding that the project would be completed by mid or end February. Talking to media on January 28, Monitoring and Implementation Committee’s Chairman Hanif Abbasi said the project would be completed by mid-February 2015. According to an agreement between Punjab Metro-Bus Authority and Turkish firm, the project would have been completed by January 31, 2015. The agreement says if the project misses the deadline, then Pakistan will have to pay Rs 2.6 million per day to the Turkish company.
