TOKYO: Overall bank lending in Japan was up 2.5 percent on year in October, the Bank of Japan said on Tuesday – coming in at 492.611 trillion yen.
That was shy of expectations for an increase of 2.6 percent, which would have been unchanged from the previous month.
Excluding trusts, bank lending also added an annual 2.5 percent to 428.191 trillion yen. That also missed forecasts for 2.6 percent, which would have been unchanged.
Lending from trusts added 2.3 percent on year to 64.420 trillion yen, while lending from foreign banks dipped 0.5 percent to 1.859 trillion yen.
