Japan stocks end weaker, Nikkei 225 slips  0.95%

TOKYO: Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Financial Services and Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.95%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TOKYO:7211), which rose 5.47% or 57.0 points to trade at 1100.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4151) added 4.60% or 85.0 points to end at 1933.0 and Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TOKYO:5233) was up 2.27% or 9.0 points to 405.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SUMCO Corp. (TOKYO:3436), which fell 5.26% or 68.0 points to trade at 1226.0 at the close. Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4005) declined 4.95% or 37.0 points to end at 710.0 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4523) was down 4.44% or 374.0 points to 8055.0.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1621 to 260 and 1 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4151) rose to all time highs; up 4.60% or 85.0 to 1933.0.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.79% to 19.56.
