Japan stocks  jump at end of day, Nikkei 225 achieves 1.92%

TOKYO: Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Financial Services and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.92%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were GS Yuasa Corp. (TOKYO:6674), which rose 6.67% or 30.0 points to trade at 480.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. (TOKYO:8830) added 6.49% or 246.0 points to end at 4037.0 and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (TOKYO:6503) was up 5.73% or 62.5 points to 1152.5 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Taisei Corp. (TOKYO:1801), which fell 3.47% or 27.0 points to trade at 751.0 at the close. Japan Tobacco Inc (TOKYO:2914) declined 3.30% or 122.0 points to end at 3573.0 and Shimizu Corp. (TOKYO:1803) was down 2.83% or 29.0 points to 995.0.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1473 to 398.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.17% to 32.89.

Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.31% or 0.59 to $45.68 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.43 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.50 to trade at $1111.70 a troy ounce.
