Japan to help Pakistan expand bilateral trade: Envoy

SIALKOT: Japanese envoy to Pakistan Takashi Kurai has said that Japan would help in expansion of bilateral trade between Japan and Pakistan by opening new avenues of economic and trade co-operation while undoubtedly promotion of trade depends on better co-ordination, interaction and understanding among business communities of the two countries.

He said that the Japanese Embassy and the Sialkot Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) could conveniently facilitate through mutual co-operation.

Addressing in Sialkot Chamber Of Commerce And Industry (SCCI) during his visit. President SCCI Majid Raza Bhutta, Senior Vice President Adnan Sethi, Vice President Mian Imran Akbar and others businessmen were present on the occasion. Takashi said that the establishment ties in April 1952 Pakistan and Japan relations have steadily progressed and I hoped that the relations between two countries would further strengthen flourishing on mutual trust and collaboration of private sector.

He said that the trade between the two countries in under potential and in 2015 the Pakistan exports to Japan were USD 176 million while imports were US$ 1.82 billion in  Pakistan from Japan whereas the Japan need to strengthen linkages between private sectors of the two countries for enhancing bilateral trade. He said that the Japan import Sports Goods, Surgical Instruments, Leather Products, Glovers all sorts, Textile items, Kitchen are, Hollow ware, Sports ware, Knives, Cutlery items and Military Uniform, Badges etc. He said that the Japan is ready to huge scope for establishing joint ventures and business co-operation between Japan and Sialkot based companies. He said that the Japan and Pakistan Chambers which could act as resource base for exchanging information while exchange of trade delegation and most importantly holding single country exhibition would also help in promoting bilateral trade. He said that the Japan embassy is preparing a easy policy to endorse visa for members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) whereas the embassy will endorse visa to members of SCCI on recommendation from of SCCI.

He said I know the exporters of Sialkot belong to cottage industry and huge quantity of exporters is working as Small Medium Enterprises (SME’s) , therefore, the Japan embassy will give preference to the exporters of Sialkot to improve their export because the need of export items in Japan is very appropriate. He said that I would likely to deeply thank you for your warm hospitality shown during my visit Sialkot along with the Japanese Business And Investment Delegation. He said that the Sialkot is city of great people whereas Dr.Allama Muhammad Iqbal  also belong to Sialkot while Sialkot is export oriented city and Sialkot is has good name in the world rather all export items of Sialkot are famous in whole world as like Japan. President SCCI Sialkot Majid Raza Bhutta presented well come address and pin pointed the problems about visa and other matter of exporters which are facing by Japanese embassy.
