TOKYO: Tokyo stocks surged 0.44 percent Friday morning after fresh record highs on Wall Street and weaker yen.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 73.28 points to 16,865.76 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 0.54 percent, or 7.31 points, to 1,363.66.
