NEW YORK: Google Play date reveals that the latest available version of Android OS, Lollipop isn’t on charts, just yet.

According to the data, the Android landscape is still dominated by Jelly Bean, with close to 46 per cent of all Android devices running that version.

This data was collected over a seven day period ending January 5, 2015, based on the devices that visited the Google Play Store.

However, Kit Kat based devices are steadily growing and the version before Lollipop now powers 39.1 per cent of all Android devices. The share of Android devices has risen over 5 per cent since December 2014.

The chart doesn’t show any signs of the Lollipop version, and a footnote reveals that “Any versions with less than 0.1% distribution are not shown.”

This implies that Android’s latest build, the 5.0 Lollipop version released in October 5.0 is yet to make any impact in the Android OS pie.

Lollipop’s slow adoption has been much talked about, though many claim that the fact that OS has been made available to very devices yet could be a major reason behind the sluggish growth.
