FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Jhang, has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 1.8 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.297 million during road checking.
The ASO received information through Collector Zulifqar Ali Chaudhary regarding the existence of a non-duty paid vehicle. Following the information, ASO Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan along with his team intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No LWC- 4034 near Sabir Chowk Shorkot City, Jhang.
The officials asked owner of the vehicle identified as Muhammad Irfan son of Muhammad Hussain to produce documents regarding lawful possession of the vehicle but he remained failed to show any relevant documents.
Therefore, the ASO team impounded the vehicle under Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156(I) 89 (i) of the Custom Act, 1969.
The ASO team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Shaukat Khan, Khalid Noor, Munir Ahmad and sepoys, including Ghulam Abbas, Ghulam Sarwar, Muhammad Ajmal and Ahmad Bux participated in the raid.
