Jhang ASO seizes smuggled textile polyester worth Rs 2.15m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized foreign origin ladies textile polyester worth Rs 2.15 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Dr Zulafqar Ali Chaudhary received information about smuggling of foreign origin textile polyester.

The ASO team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joyia, Inspector Shaukat Khan, Khalid Noor, and sepoys Muhammad Ajmal, Ahmad Bux and Ghulam Sarwar Shah intercept a suspicious vehicle bearing registration No. J.V- 0233 (Sindh) near bypass Bhakkar Road district Jhang and seized foreign origin items.

The ASO team asked accused persons who were identified as Shahid Zaman son of Abdullah Shah (driver) to produce legal documents regarding the possession of polyester. But the driver  failed to produce any relevant documents in this regard. He only produced bilty no. 039 issued by M/s Flying Cargo Carriage Co (Regd). The ASO team seized the smuggled goods  and registered a case against the accused under sectioned 2KK of the Customs act 1969.
