AMMAN: The Jordanian Government today commenced construction work of building petroleum product reservoirs in the southern Amman area. The launch celebration was attended by the Jordanian Prime Minister, Dr Abdullah Al Nusoor and Bilal Al Badoor, UAE Ambassador to Jordan.
The project aims to provide additional storage capacity for petroleum products (diesel, gasoline, and kerosene) with a total storage capacity 3,40,000 tons in addition to 10,000 tons storage capacity for liquid pressurized gas (LPG).
The total project cost is AED771 million and is financed as part of the UAE allocation within the grants provided by the Gulf Cooperation Council. The UAE grant of AED4.6 billion (US$1.25 billion), is equivalent to 25 percent of the total US$5 billion GCC grant.
The UAE Government has mandated Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) to manage the grant that will be used for vital projects contributing to economic and social development efforts in Jordan.
