AMMAN: King Abdullah II of Jordan and Polish President Andrzej Duda on Sunday met to discuss peace in the Middle East and efforts to foster bilateral ties in various fields, the state-run Petra News Agency reported. The two leaders discussed efforts to counter terrorism and the issue of Syrian refugees who fled the violence in their country to neighboring countries.
The Polish president stressed his country’s support to Jordan in reducing the impact of the influx of Syrian refugees, the number of whom official figures put at 1.4 million. He also commended Jordan’s efforts to realize peace in the Middle East.
During the talks, King Abdullah called for comprehensive approach in fighting terrorism, which threatens the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. The Jordanian leader also referred to the situation in Syria, where he highlighted the need for a political solution to address the crisis.
