Judge Faiz Rasool orders to release suspect involved in smuggling of Iranian diesel

KARACHI: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling on Wednesday released a suspect in a case pertaining to the smuggling of Iranian diesel.

Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi imposed a penalty of Rs 100, 000 on the suspect and ordered his release when pleading guilty to his role in the crime.

Advocate Aqeel Ahmed, who represented the accused, told the court that his client is pleading guilty to the offence and throwing himself on the mercy of the court.

According to the case, the Anti Smuggling Organization of Pakistan Customs has impounded an oil tanker containing 18000 liters of the Iranian diesel from the city’s Hub River Road. The ASO had taken Pandal, the driver of the vehicle into the custody and registered an FIR against him.
