Judicial remand of Sialkot gold smuggler extended for 14 days

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has asked the investigation team of the Pakistan Customs to complete the investigation challan of the case of Rs1.5million gold smuggling. The court has extended for a 14-day judicial remand of accused Muhammad Tanveer for smuggling of 30 Tola of gold.

Accused Muhammad Tanveer was arrested by the customs authorities from the Sialkot International Airport when he came back from Muscat by an international airline.

Accused Muhammad Tanveer is the main accused in the smuggling of gold into Dubai.

Earlier, the customs authorities have apprehended a suspect involved in smuggling of 16 kg of gold and currencies from the Sialkot International Airport. The Sialkot customs lodged an FIR against the person on the charges of smuggling and money laundering.

Accused Muhammad Tanveer is in the custody of customs investigation on a physical remand. At the start of the month, he was produced before the court of Tahir Sabir wherefrom he sent him to prison for judicial trial.
