BRASÍLIA: Brazil drastically reduced its imports of coke to 2,524 mt in July from 163,578 mt in the year ago-month, Ministry of Trade and Industry data showed Monday. The value of the imports plunged to $592,126 from July 2015’s $27.56 million, the data show.
Colombia was the largest exporter to Brazil, with shipments of 1,661 mt in July, compared with the year-ago month’s 57,281 mt, while the value of the imports from Colombia fell to $313,358 from $9.77 million in July 205. The average price of the coke imported from Columbia was $188.59/mt, according to the ministry data.
China was the second largest exporter to Brazil, with a total of 652 mt, compared with 105,872 mt in July 2015. The value of the imports totaled $215,928, with the average price $330.68/mt.
