Junaid Makda assures MSPIDA to make efforts for resolving issues

KARACHI: President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Junaid Esmail Makda has assured All Pakistan Motorcycles Spare Parts Importers & Dealers Association (MSPIDA) that KCCI will try its best to get taxation, Customs Valuation Rulings, Duty Structure, cleanliness, law & order and K-Electric related issues resolved.

The assurance was given during a meeting with members of MSPIDA delegation who visited KCCI to brief the Office Bearers about the hardships being faced by them in dealing with numerous authorities.

Vice Chairman Businessmen Group & Former President KCCI Haroon Farooki, President KCCI Junaid Esmail Makda, Senior Vice President Khurram Shahzad, Vice President Asif Sheikh Javaid, Former President AQ Khalil, Chairman MSPIDA Faisal Khalil along with KCCI Managing Committee and MSPIDA members attended the meeting.

President KCCI particularly appreciated MSPIDA members for their support to BMG in KCCI’s Election which ensured clean sweep victory for all BMG candidates.

He stated that the Karachi Chamber has already taken up the matter of harassment by FIA officials through notices and letters with Finance Minister Asad Omer who has assured that FIA officials would be refrained from harassing the business and industrial community.

Referring to concerns expressed by MSPIDA delegation over withholding tax and duty structure, he advised the delegation members to share details in writing so that Karachi Chamber could better understand these issues and bring them to Chairman FBR’s notice. “The Karachi Chamber is constantly in touch with authorities in Islamabad with a view to get numerous taxation issues resolved”, he added while citing the recent meeting of KCCI’s delegation with Finance Minister in Islamabad.

He was of the opinion that taxation issues being faced by the business and industrial community must be resolved through proper legislations by bringing them to the notice of relevant Standing Committee in the National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan.

In response to concerns expressed over pathetic cleanliness conditions in various markets, he informed that KCCI has completed all its home work and would soon take up this serious issue with Mayor Karachi so that some kind of practical strategy could be finalized and strictly implemented to ensure cleanliness and maintenance in various commercial markets of Karachi on regular basis.

Commenting on power supplies issues being faced by shopkeepers of motorcycle market and other commercial markets, Junaid Makda advised all associations of commercial markets to bring these issues to Chamber’s notice so that the same could be discussed with K-Electric. He was fairly optimistic that the utility service provider would certainly take these issues into consideration keeping in view the improved ties between KCCI and K-Electric.

He further stated that Karachi Chamber’s Police Chamber Liaison Committee (PCLC) was actively engaged in resolving numerous law and order issues under the supervision of Hafeez Aziz. “Any law and order issue being suffered by shopkeepers of any market should immediately be reported to KCCI so that it could be brought to the notice of LEAs with a view to ensure relief to small traders who are an integral part of KCCI”, he added.
