“The metro bus projects in Sarai Shamali, Kote Shangi and Karte Naw Road will be completed by the end of (solar year) 1397 – march 2018,” he said.

Other issues on the way of the municipality are preventing from the destruction of historical buildings, maintaining Kabul’s protected areas, recovering more than $5 million USD from Sherpoor project owners and fighting against land grabbing. The acting mayor said they continue to address the issues.

“We even destroyed a number of illegal buildings but due to a number of legal problems and some issues in police, we could not further implement our plans,” he added.

A number of Kabul residents meanwhile called on the municipality to boost up its projects in the city.

“The mayors have done their job but there are mafia groups in the city who are preventing the implementation of a number of road projects,” Ezatullah, a resident of Kabul, claimed.

“We are happy about the Kabul Municipality’s activities but they should start the road construction projects early in summer not in winter,” said Abdul Wahid Aslami, a resident of Kabul.
