KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs team deputed at International Mail Office (IMO) on Shahra-e-Faisal thwarted an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of 11 crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE. The seized drugs have an estimated market value of Rs15 million PKR.
Sources said that the parcel, booked by Sofia Nadeem from Hyderabad and addressed to Mujahid Javed Khan in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was detained for inspection based on intelligence provided by Collector Adeem Khan and Additional Collector Muhammad Faisal.
During the detailed examination of parcel, customs officials discovered the narcotics concealed within hidden cavities of books.
A chemical test conducted on the spot confirmed the substance as crystal methamphetamine.
Authorities have seized the narcotics and are in the process of lodging an FIR to apprehend the individuals involved and dismantle the drug trafficking network.
