Karachi Enforcement impounds smuggled goods worth Rs272m

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has launched a crackdown against smugglers and during last 48 hours made seizures of worth Rs272 million including cleverly concealed 125,000 litres Iranian Diesel loaded on 4 transporting oil tankers.

According to the details, the anti-smuggling squad of Customs Enforcement enhanced patrolling at different places and seized huge quantity of smuggled foreign origin assorted cosmetic, 125,000 liters of diesel, Indian origin gutka 135 bags tactfully hidden in dumper and other goods including cloth, chocolates, betel nuts etc.

The aggregate CIF value of goods comes to Rs175.2 million and market value Rs272 million. The recovered goods have been detained for further investigation.

It is necessary to mention here that Collector Yaqub Makoo has directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He further directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
