KARACHI: Under the supervision of Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Collectorate of Customs with the support of Pakistan Rangers and local police conducted a raid on a warehouse located in Ittehad Town and recovered over 1350 bags of fine-quality foreign plastic dana, weighing 25 kilograms each.
Sources told Customs Today that on 25.5.2024, Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi received authentic information that huge quantity of foreign origin plastic data is dumped in a warehouse located in Ittehad Town.
He formed an anti-smuggling staff under the supervision of Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado, and Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi who raided the warehouse and recovered 1350 bags of fine quality plastic dana. The confiscated goods, estimated to have a market value of approximately Rs20 million, were transported to the Collectorate’s warehouse aboard eight Mazda trucks for a thorough inspection and subsequent legal action.
It is necessary to mention here that Collectorate of Customs Enforcement under the dynamic leadership of Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi adopted a comprehensive strategy to curb smuggling.
Earlier, Pakistan Rangers Sindh and Pakistan Customs conducted an anti-smuggling operation in the Saddar area and seized 50 tons of smuggled goods worth Rs150 million from Gul Plaza located in Saddar Plaza.
Legal proceedings are still underway.
