Sources told that the fuel had been illicitly brought into the country, evading payment of leviable duties and taxes.

During the operation, customs team intercepted a Mazda vehicle and a Dumper vehicle that were transporting the smuggled diesel to the filling station. The dumper driver was caught red-handed in the act of delivering the fuel.

The implicated filling station will be sealed pending further investigation. The seized diesel, along with the two vehicles, has been transported to the Collectorate’s warehouse for detailed examination and legal proceedings. The estimated market value of the recovered quantity and vehicles is Rs22,602,800. An FIR has been filed against the culprits in the Customs Court.
