Karachi Enforcement thwarts attempt to smuggle 4,000 litres of Iranian diesel

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 4,000 liters of Iranian diesel. The market value of seized Iranian diesel & vehicle is Rs3 million.

Syed Irfan Ali, a spokesman for the Pakistan Customs has said that acting on a tip-off received by Deputy Collector Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Muhammad Raza Naqvi, staff of the Anti-Smuggling Squad of the Enforcement Collectorate Karachi deputed at the Mochko check post on the RCD Highway seized 4,000 litres of Iranian diesel being smuggled in a bus coming from Balochistan.

The suspects had hidden the smuggled diesel in secret boxes built in the back of the bus. The Customs anti-smuggling squad also impounded the bus.

The total value of the seized bus and diesel has been estimated at Rs3 million. A case has been registered and investigations are under way till the filing of this report.
