KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has already started investigations into the accounts statement of NGOs and NPOs.
Sources told Customs Today that the FBR has directed its Large Taxpayer Unit and Regional Tax Offices to monitor these NGOs and NPOs accounts. It is to mention here that the FBR was receiving complaints that some NGOs are not using funds properly and they are also involved in some other illegal activities.
Sources said that purpose of this monitoring to make sure that these NGOs are using their funds according to prescribed law . The FBR authorities will make sure that those organizations which are exempted from paying taxes for their particular role, are they fulfilling this criteria or not?
Sources further said that if any NGO/NPO were found involved in corruption strict action will be taken against them.
