KARACHI: The Karachi Port Friday handled 153,065 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,940 tonnes of import cargo and 46,125 tonnes of export cargo including 7,777 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.
A cargo volume of 106,444 tonnes comprising 82,466 tonnes of import cargo and 23,978 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,752 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
At Karachi port, the total import cargo of 106,940 tonnes comprised of 65,695 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,005 tonnes of general cargo; 5,669 tonnes of soyabean meal and 24,571 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,125 tonnes comprised of 31,368 tonnes of containerised cargo and 580 tonnes of general cargo; 13,027 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,773 tonnes of cement; 5,254 tonnes of rice and 1,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,777 containers comprising of 4,117 containers import and 3,660 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,783 of 20’s and 754 of 40’s loaded while 2 of 20’s and 412 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 884 of 20’s and 349 of 40’s loaded containers while 592 of 20’s and 743 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely YM Enlightenment, SC Zhuhai, BW Zambesi, Berganger, Ken Sea and Pacific Vision carrying containers, oil tankers, talcum powder and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Uni Premier, Sea Young, Klima and Zhe Hai-522 carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Uni Premier and Zhe Hai-522 carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea Friday, while another ship namely Wan Hai-516 carrying containers is expected to sail on Saturday. There were three vessels viz. Torm Aslaug, Equator Harmony and Miike carrying oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday, while seven vessels viz. Northern Prelude, AS Olivia, DL Ace, Stolt Sisto, Positive Pioneer, Sikyon and Bedford Castle carrying containers, chemical, oil tanker, vehicle, talcum powder and general cargo are due to arrive on Saturday.
At Port Qasim, the total import cargo of 82,466 tonnes includes 27,081 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,080 tonnes of LPG mix; 10,825 tonnes of coal; 1,500 tonnes of chemical; 11,670 tonnes of canola seeds and 28,310 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 23,978 tonnes includes 23,978 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,752 containers comprising of 1,306 containers import and 1,446 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely CV APL Oman, MV Globe Tanya and MT Karachi with containers, LPG mix and furnace oil respectively sailed out sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC General carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC General, CV APL Oman, CV Maersk Detroit, MV Azur, MV DL Dahlia, MV Globe Tanya and MT Karachi currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, coal, LPG mix and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely Palena, Alpine Royalty, Bunga Aster and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, crude oil, palm oil and diesel oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday. There were five vessels viz. CV Palena, CV Delmas Keta, CV Hansa America, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Bunga Aster carrying containers, furnace oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There is one ship namely CV MSC Albany with containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV X-Press Kailash with containers due to arrive on Sunday.
