Karachi raises flour prices as new official rates take effect

KARACHI: The Karachi administration has increased the official wholesale and retail prices of flour across the city, according to a new government notification issued on July 9.

The revised rates replace those announced on May 12, with prices of both regular and fine flour increasing in response to market conditions.

Under the new notification, the wholesale price of regular flour has been raised from Rs110 to Rs122 per kilogram, while the retail price has increased from Rs113 to Rs125 per kilogram.

Similarly, the wholesale price of fine flour has been revised upward from Rs118 to Rs132 per kilogram, and its retail price has increased from Rs121 to Rs135 per kilogram.

The notification, however, leaves the retail price of chakki flour unchanged at Rs145 per kilogram.

Commissioner Karachi directed all shopkeepers to prominently display the official price list at their premises and warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the government-approved rates.
