Karachi RTO-II detains three trucks carrying 1,800 sugar bags with fake track, trace stamps

KARACHI: In an enforcement operation conducted in collaboration with Inland Revenue Intelligence and Investigation (I&I), the Regional Tax Office (RTO)-II, Karachi intercepted and detained three trucks transporting sugar with counterfeit Track and Trace System (TTS) stamps.

The operation was carried out at Sassi Toll Plaza on the National Highway, where the vehicles were found carrying a total of 1,800 bags of sugar reportedly from Chambar Sugar Mills. The detained vehicles include trucks bearing registration numbers TKA-042, SDA-899, and AE-1488, said a release issued here on Monday.

The interception forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the Track and Trace regime, curb tax evasion, and prevent the illegal movement of essential commodities.

Upon detection of fake TTS stamps, the vehicles were immediately detained and shifted to the NIPA Premises of RTO-II, Karachi for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Further proceedings will be carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
