KARACHI: The business community of Karachi has expressed its deep concerns over the target killings of doctors and educationists and demanded the Sindh government and authorities concerned of law enforcing agencies take immediate notice of the ongoing targeted killing spree in Karachi.
In a joint statement, CEO Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan and President Korangi Association of Trade and Industry Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui have showed their serious concern on the target killings of doctors and educationists who provide education and medical services to the masses and termed it a huge loss to the humanity.
“Karachi is the largest contributor of revenue and almost earns 60 percent of the total revenue is being generated from the city and the business community has deep concerns over the deteriorated law and order situation of the city”, they added.
CEO TDAP S M Muneer said that time and again business community diverts the attention of Sindh government on the issues of Karachi, so that calm and peaceful atmosphere could be maintained in Sindh specially in Karachi, so that business activities could be increased and poverty could be controlled.
Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that the target killing of doctors and educationists is very serious and alarming and the Sindh government should take action on urgent basis to control the criminal activities.
He said that the murder of Prof Waheed-ur-Rehman of Karachi University is in fact the murder of entire humanity, adding that the Sindh government should make arrangements to arrest the killers and provide security to the people.
Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui said that Karachi is the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan and also considers as the economic hub, this city provides jobs to millions besides providing revenue of 60 percent of total government revenue, but unfortunately doctors and educationists are being targeted continuously for last few months.
