WASHINGTON: Kazakhstan supplied 7.9 MMT of grain to foreign markets in 2016 by December 20, said the nation’s vice ag minister. This is 12% more than last year. The Agriculture Ministry of Kazakhstan forecasts grain exports to total 8.5-9 MMT in the current marketing year (July 2016 – June 2017). This year’s total grain harvest amounted to 23.7 MMT in bunker weight, or up almost 4 MMT from last year. As a reminder, UkrAgroConsult estimates the Kazakh grain crop at 21.5 MMT.
