WASHINGTON: Kazakhstan, being vegetable oil net importer several years ago, became a net-exporter again. Exports from Kazakhstan were not very high, as the main goal of the country was saturation of the domestic market with its own sunflower oil. Gradually, sunflower oil exports from Kazakhstan began to increase. China is one of the most promising markets for the Kazakh oil.

In 2014/15 MY Kazakhstan exported slightly more than 28 KMT of sunflower oil, of which only 3.2 KMT were shipped to China. In the current season more than half of Kazakh sunflower oil exports was supplied to China (6.7 KMT from 12 KMT during January-September 2015/16 MY).
