KCCI invited to participate in SelectUSA Investment Summit

KARACHI: Senior Commercial Officer at Consulate General of the United States of America Mark Russel has invited the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to participate in the 2019 SelectUSA Investment Summit scheduled to be organized in Washington DC from June 10th to June 12th, 2019.

The invitation for attending SelectUSA Investment Summit was formally handed over to Acting President KCCI Khurram Shahzad during a meeting held at KCCI which was also attended by Vice President KCCI Asif Sheikh Javaid, Commercial Assistant US Consulate Karachi Tashfeen Mehdi, Former President KCCI Haroon Agar and Former Senior Vice President Muhammad Ibrahim Kasumbi.

Mark Russel informed that SelectUSA Summit is the biggest event which will provide good opportunities to Pakistani investors who are seeking to expand their business in USA.

He said that Pakistani firms keen to break into the U.S. market, or those who are already present in the United States but want to expand their footprint and seek new opportunities can participate in SelectUSA Investment Summit which will give companies the opportunity to find out more about investment opportunities and make connections with business partners in the United States.

This Summit is an ideal platform to learn about the US business environment, industry trends and new opportunities. It will also give participating companies a chance to find out more about how to go for expanding their business to the United States, he added.

Mark Russel informed that the Summit will showcase investment opportunities in every corner of the United States, while high profile business and government leaders would share insights on the latest business trends.

He mentioned that the past two summits attracted more than 1,000 business investors, more than 50 states and territories, and over 3,000 total attendees while Pakistani delegates have also been participating in this summit.

Speaking on the occasion, Acting President KCCI Khurram Shahzad assured to look into the possibility of sending a delegation from Karachi Chamber to United States for participation in SelectUSA Investment Summit which would help in bringing the business communities of the two countries more close to each other, besides paving way for improve trade and investment ties between the two friendly countries.

Referring to trade ties between Pakistan and United States, he stated that it was really heartening to see that United States was the top trading partner of Pakistan, purchasing over $3.6 billion of Pakistani goods and representing 16.3% of Pakistan’s total exports.

He underscored that the Karachi Chamber wants to promote business, mutual understanding and friendly relations between Pakistan and United States. “We also want to promote US investment in Pakistan and do everything for the development of Pakistan–US business cooperation”, he added.
