KARACHI: Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Abdullah Zaki has said that business community will totally reject any attempt to modify the existing WeBOC system.

In a statement Zaki has claimed that Federal Board of Revenue is considering to modify the existing WeBOC system which has triggered anxiety amongst the members of the business community. “It will make procedures more complex and open doors for corruption. If modified, it will terribly affect the export and import activities in the country”, he added.

He said that the existing WeBOC system forwards cases to any customs officer reducing the chances of corruption but after modification, these cases will be divided and forwarded to specific Groups comprising of few officers, which will obviously pave way for corruption.

He urged the FBR Chairman not to consider any idea of modifying the existing WeBOC System, which if altered will be widely protested by the business community. He questioned as to why FBR was disturbing a system which was functioning normally.
