NAIROBI: President Kenyatta assented to a Bill that, among things, puts a ceiling on the amount of money counties can spend on salaries and allowances.
The County Allocation of Revenue Bill contains schedules listing the grants that the national government is giving to the counties, including Sh95.7 million per county for leasing medical equipment.
The new law recommends that the National Treasury publish a monthly summary of all fund transfers to counties.
All county treasuries will be required to reflect all transfers by the national government in their books of account.
The Bill was presented to the Head of State for his signature by the Speaker of the Senate Ekwee Ethuro.
