NAIROBI: The Kenya Wildlife Service ( KWS) has set up Sh4 million museum at Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County to promote tourism activities in the area. The Museum to be built in collaboration with St. Patrick’s high school-Iten will also see the learning institution benefit from the project by preserving its rich legacy both in academic and sporting prowess over the years.
The project fully funded by KWS established at St. Patricks grounds will promote the Rimoi national reserve among other tourism sites and position the county as tourist attraction destination besides documenting the schools accumulated success since the 1970s to date.
The school’s principal Wilson Yego said the construction works for the museum has already began in earnest and will be completed by October this year noting the institution’s rich history and illustrious success is on the verge of being lost thus a need to preserve in a museum.
The Standard Group CEO Mr Sam Shollei is leading the pack of top managers who passed through the school. Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, MPs Jackson Kiptanui (Keiyo South), William Kisang (Marakwet West) are some of the politician who studied at the school.
