Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi elected president of DG Khan Chamber of Commerce & Industry

MULTAN: Noted industrialist Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi has been elected (unopposed) as President of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce & Industry for 2020-21. He had also served caretaker Punjab Minister for Industries, President of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Multan-Dera Ghazi Khan twice, Chairman of Multan Dryport Trust (MDPT) and Chairman of board of directors of Nishtar Medical College, Hospital Multan.

Election Commissioner Ch. Athar Bashir announced the unofficial result of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI)and said that Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, Muhammad Latif Khan Pitafi and Muhammad Zahid Nizam have been elected unopposed as President, Senior Vice President and Vice President of the chamber for the year 2020-21.because no other candidate turned up till the passage of time.

Similarly, 26 executive committee members were elected unopposed. Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said on the occasion,” I am thankful to members of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber who reposed their confidence and trust in my abilities to assume the office of President. It is my honour and privilege to accept this position. ,”I know it is a significant commitment, but I am prepared to contribute along with the newly elected office bearers and member of executive committee to build upon the successes of the past and to fulfill the Chamber’s mission to support, promote and protect your interests and the wider community. Dera Ghazi Khan is my second home in South Punjab and people of Dera Ghazi Khan were serving on our different projects and we played a key role in alleviation of unemployment in this area. He told the DCCI member that he would construct an office of the Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber and he would ask Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to allocate a piece of land for this purpose.

He said that his first priority is establishment of office of chamber so that local industrialists could heave a sigh of relief .He vowed to make efforts for the industrialisation in Dera Ghazi Khan to end the employment besides revival of closed and sick industry. He said that he would try his utmost to connect Dera Ghazi Khan with CPEC project and establishment of special economic zone in this area.
