Khushab Customs Intelligence seizes almond, truck worth Rs 4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence field investigation unit ( FIU ), Khushab has seized smuggled almond and Hino Truck worth Rs 4 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 1.851 million during a successful raid.

The intelligence team intercepted a Hino truck bearing Registration No SEA-558 near Dullayawal MM Road, Bhakkar. The officials checked the vehicle and recovered 127 bags of almond without shell.

The team asked the driver namely as Moosa khan son of Rasool khan to show documents regarding legal import of the items. He provided a receipt No 899 issued by New Mushtaq Balochistan Goods Transport Company showing Abdullah as sender and Qari Talagang as recipient. There was no arrangement for through search of vehicle. Therefore, the vehicle was brought in intelligence office.

Later, the intelligence team seized the items under Section 16 of the Customs Act, 1969 and 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act, 1969.

Faisalabad Customs Intelligence team, comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain, Intelligence Officers Chaudhary Saeed Hayat, Asghar Mehdi Naqvi, and Sepoys Khalil Ahmed, Naeem Niazi, Muhammad Sajjad and Muhammad Anwar participated in the raid.
